The Fan/Fred bailout reminds me of an episode of "Married With Children". In it, Al Bundy gets a hairbrained idea for a 900 number, where people pay to ask him questions about shoes. To pay for the number and an infomercial to promote his service, he goes to the bank his next door neighbors are working for a loan. Marcy would know better, but Steve was trying to make enough loans to win a free trip to Hawaii, and the 50 grand Al wanted put him over the top, so he did not even think about Al's qualifications for a loan being ridiculous. All Steve could think about was loaning enough money to win the trip.
Naturally, Al's idea and ability to pay off the loan were bogus, so Steve was going to lose his job at the bank for giving all that money to someone who did not deserve the loan. When Marcy found out, she bailed Steve out buy loaning Al the money to pay off the loan to Steve, saying she could afford a bad loan, because she had a good enough record, that she could make a bad loan, and not get fired. As soon as Al's wife heard that, she said,"We're rich!". Al, however was not going to blow the money at the mall. Nor, was he going to pay off the loan from Steve. He figured he could make a better commercial, and pay both loans, and then some. Naturally, since he still was not qualified to pay off the loan, he lost the $50K Marcy loaned him.
Likely, Bark's buddies at Fan/Fred, who made all those bad loans to qualify for all that bonus money, will do the same with the bailout money, since they are not going to be held acountable for their comedy of errors.I gotta go throw up.
