I have often contemplated
why so many people are liberal. Since taking a few psychology courses, in
college, I sometimes tend to analyze people's thought processes, when they do
or say something curious. It just so happens that several members of my
immediate family are flaming libs, which results in some lively discussions
between them and me. I have noticed many recurring apparent beliefs behind
liberal's statements, both in these family discussions, and over the media. I
have also noticed similarities between attitudes of liberals and
alcoholic/addicts.I choose to lump these mentally handicapped people together as Libraholicts. In psychology, these faulty beliefs, which twist Libraholicts perception of the world in which they live, are referred to as self destructive
character faults, or something like that.
One of the most glaring character flaws I have noticed liberals share
with alcoholic/addicts is "I want what I want, when I want it".
This self centered attitude often results in short sightedness, and accepting
poor results in important events. This can best be evidenced by the war on
terror. Many libs, in congress, voted for the invasion of Iraq, yet, it was not long before
they wanted to quit and go home. When it became apparent the battle in Iraq was
going to last more than a few weeks, and cost many lives and much money (as
compared to?), the extreme Left seized the opportunity to use it against the
Bush administration, and used the glaring character flaw of liberals to support
their agenda, by convincing the libs Iraq was a waste of time, money, and
military. They have gone so far as to exaggerate, and even lie about conditions
and events, in Iraq,
in order to con the American public into turning against the war.
This trait of always wanting 'instant gratification', leads to another
destructive character flaw shared by liberals and alcoholic/addicts
(Libraholicts) - blaming one's faults on others. The steady stream of poor
results from impatient, hasty decision making would prove unbearable to a
person without blaming the outcome on others. So, they usually sluff their
‘bad’ onto someone they would never admit to, but actually admire. At the same
time, Libraholicts will rationalize and justify poor choices for other
people who often make the same types of choices as themselves. This is often
due to not wanting to go to the trouble required in doing the right thing. The
insanity of this state of mind is exemplified in the fact that, in the long
run, doing the right thing is the easiest way.
Another bone in the head of Libraholicts is their
penchant for ridiculing someone else, in answer to criticism of themselves or
someone they choose to defend. Instead of explaining why they did something,
Libraholicts will point out (even if it requires repeating a rumor,
exaggeration, or outright lying) something they consider a poor decision by
someone widely admired. Often, this is a demonstration of one or more of the
faulty beliefs upon which the Libraholict is basing their life. On these
occasions, when confronted with poor results from choices they or someone the
Libraholict believes would benefit them if said person has the approval of others,
Libraholicts will commence spewing rumors (stated as fact), exaggeration, and
lies about poor choices of others, as if someone else’s mistakes make it okay
for them, or their defendee, to do anything they want, no matter the
consequences, or the stupidity of the choice. Anyone with clear thinking can
see where this (il) logic leads. Realizing this is especially scary, when politicians, in charge of our
lives, or trying to become so, display this behavior, consistently. I may
update this later, but now I have to go throw up.
